Kast-a-way will be at the Y Thursday evening between the hours of 6:00-8:00 to distribute swimsuits and apparel that was purchased in the first two fittings. If you are in need of a team suit yet, they will be able to size your swimmer that night as well. They will not be bringing all of the apparel to try on, but you may still place orders that evening. Please make an effort to come pickup your items that you ordered even if your swimmer is not at practice Thursday night.

They will also be at the home meet this Saturday with all of the apparel and the swimsuits if you are not able to pickup Thursday evening, but again, please try to get it out of the way Thursday night.

Thanks, Paul

I am currently 6 caps shy of the minimum order number of 50. If you are interested in a personalized team cap, there are order forms in the mailboxes labeled caps and apparel. Please get your orders in ASAP so we may order these as quickly as possible.

I have reached the minimum order needed for the personalized magnets. I will hold off until Wednesday to place that order. You will also find order forms for those in the same folder.

The T-shirts will hopefully be ordered this week. If you did not get a chance to turn your order form in tonight please do so immediately.

Lastly, if you did not get in for the fin fitting tonight you will find an order form in your swimmers mailbox. Even if your swimmer does not need the fins please mark that on the order form so I know they are not needed. If you did not receive an order form your swimmer is not required to have fins.

If there are any questions please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

Thanks

If your swimmer is required to have fins for practice, you will receive an order form in your mailbox. (Fins is noted next to swimmer's name on the Practice Group list posted on the home page -- do not click the Practice Groups on the left as that is old information). Even if you do not need them, there is a place on the form to check for that. Please return all order forms to Taylor Limbert's mailbox by Sunday October 7th. The cost of the fins will be $14.00, please enclose your payment with your order. As always if you want to write a check please make it out to LTPY Swim Team. I will order all fin orders on that following Monday. If you do not have your order form in by then you will be responsible for ordering your own. If there are any questions please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

To all new and veteran parents, the DEADLINE for ordering your team t-shirt is only one week away. Don't forget to show your team spirit and wear the shirt to the meets this year, that includes you parents as well.

An update on the Personalized Cap orders. As of this morning I have a total of 28 caps ordered. Remember the order will not be placed until I receive a minimum of 50 total. Once that total has been reached I will post on the website a final date for orders to be turned in.

After talking to the Car Magnet folks, the minimum order on those is only 10. At this time I only have 5 ordered. The deadline was to be this Saturday Sept 29th. If I do not receive the minimum of 10, that date will have to be moved.

If you have any questions about any of these items please do not to hesitate to e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

Thanks

The fins have finally arrived. I will be at Thursday's practice from 8:30 to 10:00 am in the morning and at the meet as well. Since it has taken so long to process this order, we will only probably get a week or so out of the fins this summer season, but they will be used more extensively this winter. If you have a sizing issue this Winter, please let me know and we will try and change them out for another size. If you ordered socks to go with the fins, I apologize that those are still not here. Please watch the website and I will let you know when they arrive. Coach Chris will let you know when the fins will be required for practice. On Monday, June 25th, practice is canceled to take a break for some "dry" fun before the summer season ends!

SURF'S UP for all swimmers, coaches, parents and siblings! You are invited to attend Surf's Up (the latest penguin movie) at the Dublin AMC Theater for the 5:30 pm showing. (Matinee price for 13 & overs is $6.00; 12 & under price is $5.00). The theater isn't reserved like Happy Feet, but we don't expect it to be very busy. The movie will end at approximately 7:10 pm. The coaches won't leave the theater until all swimmers are picked up. No RSVPs are required for the movie.

AFTER THE MOVIE, age 11 & over swimmers and Kings are invited to join the coaches and "winter challenge swimmers" Morgan Helgreen, Nathan Blaine and Matthew Lennon at the Tumbleweed (near Lowe's in Dublin) for dinner around 7:20 pm. Please RSVP to Coach Chris if you will attend dinner. Dinner should end around 8:45 pm.

Most of the swimmers required to have fins for practice have been sized. If you missed the parent meeting on Sunday night, the vote from the team was that those kids who require fins are responsible for purchasing them. The cost of the fins is only $18. I also have gotten team pricing on aqua socks to wear in the fins if your swimmer is getting blisters or the fins are a little loose: the cost on those are $10. Finally if you do not want them to carry them back and forth in their regular swim bag, there is a mesh bag available for only $6.00. If you are a swimmer and fins are mandatory, please look in your mailbox for an order form for these items. Please turn in order forms and payment to Taylor Limbert's mailbox by Sunday, June 10th. If any other swimmer would like to order anything please let me know. As always if there are any questions, please see me at practice or e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

As stated early in the season, Coach Chris would like all Kings and any Emperor over the age of 11 to have fins for practice starting June 11th (or when the fins arrive). Fins are optional for 10 & under Emperors. Swimmers will be required to bring fins to every practice. These are standard fins and if you already have a standard pair of rubber fins, you do not need to purchase these. Zoomers and other variations will not work with the group drills the team will be doing.

There will be a fitting this Sunday after the Mini-Meet. If you can't make it, fin fitting will also be available at this coming Tuesday's practice from 7-8:30 pm. The sizes that will be available will be 3-5, 5-7, 7-9, 9-11, and 11-13. I will also try to have some aqua socks available if your swimmer is between sizes. Aqua socks will also help with comfort as fins will be stiff until broken in. OTHER TEAM MEMBERS MAY ALSO PURCHASE FINS, BUT THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED. As always, if you have any questions, please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

Thanks, Paul

Summer Team T-shirts are now available to order. Since the season is so short, I have put a cut-off for ordering the shirts for Sunday, June 3rd. The cost of the shirt is $10.00 each, and the design will be on the team board above the mailboxes. I have put an order form in everyone's mailbox. If you should need another form, there are extras in Taylor's mailbox. The color will be yellow with green, brown, and black print on the back and black print on the front. As always, if you write a check, please make it out to LTPY Swim Team and put payment and order form into Taylor Limbert's mailbox at the Y.

As Coach Chris has mentioned, we will have latex team caps available this year as well as the silicone. The cost on the latex will be $4.00 each and the silicone $8.00 each. The latex are currently on order and will hopefully be here before the first meet. If you need to order a cap or have questions about the T-shirt, please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

If you missed the Parent Meeting tonight, you can download a copy of the handbook. It is available under Downloads. Click Last Loaded Downloads.

The handbook includes a Meet Sign-Up form and Parent Volunteer form. Please complete both and return as soon as possible to Coach Chris' mailbox.

What’s New?
There are several changes since last swim season. Check the handbook for “NEW THIS SEASON” and the specific details. Changes include:

- Late Policy (swimmers arriving more than 8 minutes late must be accompanied by a parent to swim practice).
- Swimsuit attire (competitive-style suits are required – no baggy, long shorts).
- Swim caps must be worn at practice if hair is below the ears.
- LTPY team caps are required at meets. Latex and silicone team caps will be available. E-mail Paul Limbert at pndlimbert@aol.com to order a team cap.
- Replacement PB tags are $5.00 each.
- Fins required for all Kings and 11 & Over Emperors (refer to the handbook).

Hopefully knowing the records at any time might inspire the kids to swim that much faster. Thanks for the offers to help put up the board.

The Record Board should be done within a week or so. If you are able to assist in installing the board, please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com. I think three people plus myself should be able to handle it. The big need at this time is if anyone knows anybody with a table saw that we could use. I don't need it at the Y, but I would need to make some rip cuts before installation begins. If anyone knows of a table saw that we could use, please let me know ASAP. I would like to do some pre-installation things before the board arrives at the Y.

It took a lot of work and I think he pulled everyone together to help very nicely. I hope this will help the team in many ways and provide an opportunity to do this again.

For those of you who have a child swimming in Zones, there will be a T-shirt design on the bulletin board within the next day or so. This is not the Zone shirt that is being sold by the League. The team shirt will have the Zone swimmers names on it along with a Penguin design. Of course, if you do not have a swimmer going to Zones to swim an event, you may still want to purchase one if you are going down to volunteer or just happen to need another Penguin T. Assuming that there will not be as many orders for this shirt, the cost will soon be determined and will be put on the order form. The Plunge shirts are here. I would like to pass out as many of the LTPY shirts before Saturday as possible. I will be at the Y Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 and Friday 6:30 until we are done setting up for the Plunge. If you cannot make those times we will have a table set up on Saturday to sell extra shirts and pass out the pre-orders. I hope everyone has a great meet.

Thanks

PENGUIN PLUNGE PSYCH SHEET - All entries have been received and finalized for the Plunge. There are 292 swimmers participating in the Plunge. The psych sheet for each session is available at the swim team bulletin board.

VOLUNTEER FORMS FOR THE PLUNGE - If you signed up for the Plunge via e-mail and did not return your sign-up volunteer form, please return it AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to Coach Chris' mailbox.

OUTSTANDING SWIM TEAM FEES - The YMCA just sent an updated list of "32" swimmers with outstanding program fees for swim team. If payments arrangements have not been made with Jodye Carman, swimmers with outstanding fees will be unable to participate in the Penguin Plunge and any future meets until the fees are paid.

A quick reminder that the deadline to order Penguin Plunge T-shirts and the Penguin Apparel is next Sunday the 17th. Please put your completed forms into Taylor Limbert's mailbox at the Y. If you are in need of another form, there are blank copies in the mailboxes at the Y in a folder labeled Penguin Apparel/Caps. Again, there will not be a third order for the apparel -- this is your LAST CHANCE. If there are any questions as always please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

Thanks to everyone who has placed their order for the Penguin Plunge T-shirt. The deadline for ordering is Dec. 17th. If you plan on getting a shirt, please plan on ordering it before that date. We would like to have most of them ordered before the meet so we will not be stuck with a lot of extra shirts.

As for the Apparel, I have been taking orders for a second round of Penguin Apparel. At this time, I only have about 16 items ordered and have not received any new orders in over a week. I originally had said that we would need at least 50 items ordered for the pricing, but at this rate, the season will be over before we can place an order. So regardless of the number, I would like to put a cutoff on the apparel orders for Dec. 17th as well. There will not be a third order.

Thanks,

Paul D Limbert

WOW! Great job at today's meet - the Penguins swam 163 PBs with a total improvement of 900 seconds! Results will be posted on the bulletin board on Sunday.

The following swimmers swam a PB in all their individual events: John Burcu, Justin Chen, Charlie Darrough, Maria Fenters, Patrick Grzelak, Morgan Helgreen, Jack Hiltner, Jacob Guzzo, Sydney Matthews, Savannah Matthews, Joseph McConaghy, Matthew McMahon, Taryn Moske, Derek Nguyen, William Paull, Ryan Pitkin, Hunter Ryan, Paige Woda, Andrew Zhang, Kayla Frea, Keenan Bellisari, Maren Reisch, Amanda Springer, Alexandra VanSteyn, Ally Braun, Nathan Graney, Grace Murley, and Agneeth Mazumdar.

If you did not receive your PB tag in your mailbox, e-mail Coach Chris.

NOTE: The swimmer that swims the 1,000th PB will celebrate with all swimmers in their age group with a party! Hopefully, some lucky swimmers will swim the 1,000th before the New Year!

Dear Penguin Parents,

There are approximately 40 families that still owe swim team program fees and you should have received an e-mail if YMCA records show a balance due. Fees were to be paid in full by November 15th unless a payment plan was arranged by contacting Jodye Carman, Member Services Director.

If you are unsure if you have a balance, please contact the YMCA Front Desk. If there is a discrepancy or an error, please speak with Jodye Carman. Swimmers will be unable to participate in meets AFTER December 3rd if fees are not paid in full unless other payment arrangements are made with Jodye Carman.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Individual and team photo orders have arrived! A swim team parent will have the photos during practice tonight (Wednesday), tomorrow night (Thursday) in the pool area, and they will be available during Saturday's home meet. If you cannot find the designated swim team parents, please check the table near the bulletin board or ask a coach.

Photos will NOT be put in swimmer's mailbox unless you request it -- we want to avoid wet pictures at the bottom of a swim bag.

Statuettes will be 2 more weeks as stated on the envelope that was filled out and will be attached to the pictures. Hurt photo will call you when they are in and pick-up arrangements can be made.

If there are any problems with your pictures, please call Hurt photo directly. Their phone # is on the envelope attached to the pics. Please speak to Linsday if you call.

Please e-mail Coach Chris (crodawg99@aol.com) if you would like the photos put in your mailbox.

It's not too early to start taking and saving digital photos of your fabulous Penguin swimmers for inclusion in our gala end of year banquet. As most of you may know, the team has a huge end of season celebration that includes an evening of recognition, awards, gratitude, a few surprises, and a whole lot of fun. The highlight of the evening is the slide show set to music. The kids love seeing themselves and their friends up on the screen. We are counting on proud Penguin families to be snapping and saving digital images of the team throughout the year. We will let you know where to send those images when the banquet time is closer, but until then, please click it and store it. We can use LOTS of pictures! Thanks in advance for your participation!

Once we reach that number I will let everyone know when the order will be placed. Please check the mailboxes for the order forms under Penguin Apparel. PARENTS: YMCA Member Services has requested that we remind parents that they be sure that their swimmers have with them and show their Y identification tags at the front desk when they arrive for practice or home meets. Jodye, Director of Member Services, says the Y may exercise their right to deny admission to the facility to any swimmer who does not display proper identification. Thanks to parents and swimmers for your cooperation in this matter.

Our Penguin T-shirts are now being distributed. Please remember to put your swimmers first and/or last name on the shirt tag with a Sharpie right away to insure that your swimmer can identify their shirt. With every swimmer wearing the same shirt, it could get very confusing.

Thanks and swim happy! :)

If anyone missed the Parent meeting on Wednesday evening, I put a hard copy of the order form for the team apparel and the team t-shirt in everyone's mailbox this evening. The t-shirt design is on the bulletin board. The "Roster" shirt will have the design on the front and the kids names on the back. The "Plain" shirt will have the small design on the front left and the larger design on the back. The color of the shirt will be Lime Green. The cost is only $7.00 so order for the whole family and blanket the meets with our shirts.

I will definately be at the home meet on September 30th with all of the samples of Penguin apparel and a few garments for sizing. At this time, I would like to be at all the practices a couple of days that week if anyone will not be at the meet, so please watch for further dates. In regards to the Ladies tank, there was a concern with the color of white. If anyone would like a black one instead, please note that on the order form.

If you need extra order forms, there there is a folder in the mailboxes labeled Swim team apparel/caps. Please put all completed forms and payments into my daughter's mailbox, Taylor Limbert, at the Y. As always if there are any questions, please e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

Great news. The t-shirt orders are in already. I passed a lot out tonight at practice. If you are going to be at the meet tomorrow I will be there to pass the remaining shirts out then. If you did not get a chance to order a shirt I did order a few extra. Please see me for available sizes tomorrow.

Greenhouse should have the swimsuit orders that were placed last Thursday ready for me to pickup tomorrow. Hopefully I will also have those available for pickup at the meet as well.

As always anyone that needs a cap, temp tattoo or anything from me please see me tomorrow to fill all your equipment needs.

Please remember that Greenhouse Aquatics will be there around 4:30 to take Team suit orders and sell some of their swim merchandise. Please don't forget that I would like to have the T-shirt orders by then as well in order to get the shirts to the team quickly. Please put the forms and payment into Taylor's mailbox at the Y. All Penguin summer team members should now be listed on the website when you click on "SWIMMERS' TIMES" (found under Penguins Database). Please double-check to make sure your swimmer's name is listed and spelled correctly, and the BIRTHDATE is correct. Please e-mail Coach Crystal if there are any discrepancies so the database can be updated.

Also, you can now SIGN-UP your swimmers for the remaining dual meets by logging on with your User Name and Password, and clicking on "SIGN UP FOR MEETS" (found under Communicate!) Swimmers in the same family should be linked together, but if you note an error, please let the coaches know. And parents, you also have the opportunity to sign-up and volunteer for our dual meets when you sign up your swimmer. (If you did not receive instructions in your mailbox on how to register on the website and sign up for meets, please let Coach Sandy or Coach Crystal know).

And finally, Parents, please update/edit the "PARENT ROSTER" (found under Communicate!) with your contact information. This is helpful to the coaches and other team parents.

Thank you!

It was a little late notice to get Greenhouse Aquatics to our parent meeting tommorrow night. I did arrange for them to come to the first home meet next Thursday June 8th. They said they would be there about 4:30 so before warm-ups begin. I know it will too late for the first meet for any team suits, but if anyone wants to order them for the Summer season they can. Also if anyone is in need of a team cap I will be at the Parent meeting tommorrow night to distribute them. The cost for the cap is $8.00. Hopefully I might have a finalized, or close to it, T-shirt design for the Summer season. I would like to put a short order time on them though so we might have them for most of the season. The cut-off date for ordering if everything goes well will be the Home meet on Thursday the 8th. The cost will probably be a little higher than the winter shirt. The cost I am predicting right now is going to be $10. Still a heck of a bargain. If there are any questions please do not hesitate to e-mail me at pndlimbert@aol.com.

From Coach Steve

It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement, but at the same time I am embracing an exciting opportunity for my family. As many of you have already heard, a career opportunity is relocating the Temple family to Dallas, Texas. Unfortunately, we will not be able to stay until the end of the swim season, but I will be coaching until February 17th. I have already discussed plans for the team going forward with the other coaches and will do all that I can until that time to help the team have a successful completion to this season.

It seems like just yesterday that we came to the Penguin family, but during that time many, many cherished memories have transpired that we will remember forever and that I personally am very proud of.

In what is now our fourth season, I can look back to those first few months and see so many swimmers who were testing the competitive waters for the first time. I can now see how far they have come to be seasoned and dedicated swimmers who are proud of their accomplishments, and I can see their parents gleaming with pride at their children’s’ successes as well. I see families who have come to the Penguins to be a part of this special environment and who are now so glad that they did. I see a team that has grown at an unprecedented rate take the swimming community by surprise with accelerated success, team camaraderie, tremendous internal support, and that all important Penguin Pride.

This family took us in with open arms from the beginning and embraced us in what turned out to be the worst moment in our lives. All of the loving generosity and unselfish support of everyone during that terrible time in our lives will forever be remembered in our hearts. This is just one example in a long list of how this team means so much to so many and why it will continue to be strong and successful well into the future.

I, along with my family, wish only the best for everyone and know that we will continue to follow so many of those that we have seen grow and come to love over these years. Please know that I am very proud to be a part of creating what this team has become and will always cherish the moments and memories it has given to my family and me. Good Luck to all in everything you do. We will miss you all but always have fond memories.

Love,
Coach Steve, Kelly, Taylor, & Chase

From the Hilliard swim team ...

I would like to extend a thank you to the Liberty Swim Team parents who helped clean up after the HURY meet on Saturday. They truly went over and above by vacuuming the playroom and disinfecting the equipment. I stopped in and thanked them personally but wanted to send an extra thank you in case I missed someone who helped and to again let everyone know how much we appreciated what they did.

Thank you to the coaches, kids and swim team parents for a wonderful meet.

Sincerely,

Shari Wolf

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the pool,
Not an Emperor was waddling because he was no fool.

The pace clock was hung on the wall with great care,
By two secret elves and their handyman wares!

The Blues were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of PBs swam through their heads.

And Royals wearing goggles and Kings in their caps,
Joined the Rockhops and parents for a "short" winter's nap!

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Penguins hopped from their beds to see what was the matter.

And what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But a crazy Penguin coach yelling, "PRACTICE IS NEAR!"

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Have a safe and happy holiday season!

Swimcerely,
Penguin Coaches

As discussed at the parents meeting last week we are being asked by the YMCA to move the date for the Family Fun Meet. We currently have it scheduled for Sunday, March 5th. This happens to also be the date of the Swim for Diabetes event and the YMCA has asked us if we could move the date of our event. Some of you might recall that we did discuss this at the last parents meeting and we were unsure of available dates. One option that wasn’t brought up was holding the meet on Saturday, March 4th. If this date works for a majority of our families we will advise the Y, if not we can keep the original date as we were on the calendar prior to the date being set for the Diabetes event. As time is short and we owe the Y an answer, could you please respond to me at dnewman3@insight.rr.com by Friday December 16th either for, against or both dates are OK.

Thank you all for your help!

Dear Penguin Parents and Swimmers,

We have entered our third week of practice and everything is going great! The swimmers are working hard, improving, and having fun. Several swimmers have been moved to another practice group and you can expect more changes in the coming weeks. A note will be put in the swimmer's mailbox if their practice group changes. You can also confirm your swimmer's practice group by going to the web and clicking on PRACTICE GROUPS located on the left side.

The Penguin website is the main source of information, so please bookmark it and check it often! Click on the CALENDAR for practice times, meets, deadlines, etc. The information below includes some helpful information as well as some important changes / updates.

PARENTS: Please double-check your swimmer's birthdate on the website. This information must be accurate when we submit it to the League and for meet entries. To check your swimmer's birthdate, click on Swimmers’ Times located on the left and click your swimmer's name. If the birthdate is incorrect, please e-mail Coach Chris immediately. Also, please update your information on the Parent Roster on the website. Login on the website and click on Parent Roster on the left side of home page. Find your name and edit your personal information. Thanks!

If you have any questions, please e-mail Coach Chris (crodawg99@aol.com).

To All,

After winning the Small Team State Championship in both seasons of 2005, the USA Penguin team is ready to defend its’ title. Being a heightened level of competition that I feel is not for all swimmers, there will be standards that must be met to be a part of the LTPY/USA team that will participate in select meets (schedule below) during the course of the season. Most USA Swimming meets are 2-3 days with the longer events being swam on Friday evenings. Like our YMCA invitationals, there are fees per event ranging from $3-4, and some meets may be Prelims/Finals (ie: Makos Inv, and the Championship meets). There are a few slight differences in stroke and turn rules that I will convey to the swimmers, and age determination in USA Swimming is your age as of the first day of the meet in which the swimmer is participating.

There will be a separate fee associated with the swimmers who wish to and are eligible to participate in LTPY/USA Swimming. This fee will cover the cost of team and individual registrations with the remaining amount going to myself as payment for coaching at the USA Swimming meets. There will not be any separate practice times nor will the YMCA or LTPY swim team incur any costs associated with USA Swimming and it’s members.

Please click on "READ MORE" for eligibility, fees, and meet information.

The following swimmers will be assessed on Thursday, Sept. 1st from 6 - 7:30 PM at the YMCA. If you can not attend, please notify Coach Chris at crodawg99@aol.com to make arrangements for Friday evening. Once these are complete, we will be able to determine in what level or group all the swimmers will be, and also let those on the wait list know if we have been able to add them to the team. All of this information will be posted by Sept. 6th.

The first list are those that are registered that still need to be assessed.

Ziliak, Diana
Ostrowski, Jack
Gupta, Rohan
Putman, Bob
Kerber, Sam

The second list is all of those on the wait list that need to be assessed and should attend assessments tonight, Sept. 1st as noted above. For the following swimmers on the wait list, this does not mean you have a spot on the team, as we must determine the level of all those on the waitlist before we can make a final determination of how many we can take from the wait list. You must be assessed before we can place you on the team. If you cannot attend tonight, please e-mail Coach Chris at crodawg99@aol.com and make arrangements to be assessed Friday eve (9/2).

To All,

The determination of groups from assessments has turned out to be more involved than I originally thought. Registered swimmers that will be placed in the Novice group will allow room for some swimmers to come off the wait list, be assessed, and placed in an appropriate group. The final groupings will not be determined until after this second round of assessments. I will post a list of swimmers that will come off the waitlist later tonight....and of those, who will need to be assessed. A time and date will be established for that as well. There were also swimmers that did not make it to the first assessment, and they will also be included on this list.

Thank You for your patience,
Coach Steve

Please look for your swimmers' name below and bring them for assessments at the specified time for their age group. If you do not find their name on the list, there is no need for an assessment. Please make sure they have a swim suit, goggles, and swim cap (if needed). Each session should last approximately 1/2 hour. Swimmers will be asked to swim a 25 (8-under) or 50 (9-over) of each stroke to obtain a time and their ability in each of the 4 strokes. They will also swim a short workout set to determine their endurance.

Please email Coach Steve @ steven.temple@liebert.com if you absolutely cannot attend to make other arrangements.

Swimmers on the wait list will be assessed at a later date once openings become available from this round of assessments. Look for this info on Monday or Tuesday.

The end of year cookout for the swim team has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 19th due to a conflict on the 20th with Powell Pool's banquet. As we have many families who participate in both, it was important to accomodate both teams. I hope this does not represent an inconvenience to any families. Otherwise, the time (7 pm) and the place (the Y's outdoor pool) remain the same. See you there!

I just wanted take a moment to say GOOD LUCK to all of you at Champs this weekend. I wanted to get everyone together sometime this week to have a motivational rally, but all of our busy summer schedules did not allow that to happen. This has been another great and fun summer season, and I am proud of all of you and your accomplishments.

Remenber to prepare yourselves for every race by thinking about everything that you have worked on and learned from your coaches. Get focused and stay focused throughout your entire race. You have put in a lot of hard work this summer, so I would like to see you rewarded by bringing home the Championship banner once again. I know you can do it!!

Have Fun, Swim Fast, and represent yourselves with Penguin Pride.

See You at Champs,
Coach Steve

Parents and Coaches,
Thank You All for support and dedication to your childrens' sport. You have continued to help make this program a huge success. We could not do it without you.

Thanks Again,

Most importantly!! (and neglected from the mailbox flyer) PLEASE RSVP to Ann Hiltner (jhiltner @columbus.rr.com) or Sherri Lennon (slennon@columbus.rr.com) with the number attending so we know how much chow to buy!

We love those candid shots of as many different Penguins as possible.

We regret that digital images only can be used this year--we used our last favor having photos scanned last year :) If you label your discs we will do our best to return them. Thanks!

UPDATE: I was just notified that there is a high school meet at 8:00 pm tonight. There will be no 7:30 practice for Emperors and Kings.

ALSO, the heater is still broken (expected to be fixed tomorrow) so the water is a couple of degrees cooler than last night. Practice IS STILL ON, but since the younger swimmers scheduled tonight don't move around as much, the Blues and Royals may want to reconsider attending tonight's practice (or decide after you test the water).

The Penguin Lost & Found container in the pool office is overflowing. Please check it if you are missing a towel, clothes, etc.

Also, a few dishes and a basket were left after the Silent Auction. They are on a shelf in the pool office.

Team t-shirts are being distributed during practice if you did not get yours yet. Check with the coach.

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

Don't forget, tomorrow is the deadline to sign up for our November 6th HOME meet and the SEEYA Invitational.

The season is rockin' with PBs and meets galore! THANKS to everyone who volunteered for our first home meet! Everything ran smooth, and it helped a great deal to have the aerobic room for the 11 and Over swimmers. And the report on swimmer behavior was a huge improvement from the practice meet! Let's keep this going for the remaining meets.

Click "READ MORE" to get the Penguin scoop on Practice Changes, Penguin Apparel, Lancaster Invitational, Perfect Attendance and more.

Enjoy the "meet free" weekend!

Swimcerely,
Coach Chris

Calling all Penguins to “A Penguin’s Winter Wonderland”!

** THERE WILL BE NO SWIM PRACTICE ON THIS NIGHT **

It’s less than a month until our 2nd annual Penguin Party and Silent Auction. This year’s team fund raiser will be held on Friday evening, November 12th, from 6:30 -9:00 at the “Y”. Kids are welcome too. There will be kid’s buffet and the pool, gym and climbing wall will be open during the auction party.

This is our major booster fund raiser for the LTPY Penguin Swim Team. We ask that every swim team family participate by donating an item to the auction and by attending the event. This year’s theme is a Penguin’s Winter Wonderland”! We hope all of you will catch the spirit of the upcoming holiday season and be creative with your auction items and the covered dish you bring to the auction.

Auction donations should be a gift item or a personal service with a minimum value of $25. Hot sellers last year included gift baskets, jewelry, Holiday decorations, restaurant and spa gift certificates, penguin paraphernalia, sporting event tickets and private swim and tennis lessons. The auction items will be collected between October 25th and November 7th. There will be a large collection box in the pool area.

If you have questions or ideas or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Sandy Beetner or Karen Rosenberg.

In Downloads / Information, you can find a file with the latest time standards for the team. These times will also be posted on the bulletin board.

Swimmers must make the National and Zone times in order to participate in the National and Zone competitons at the end of the season.

Star times are a standard used by our league to recognize swimmer excellence; they are 5% slower than the corresponding Zone times.

This year, for our team only, we are adding Gold, Silver and Bronze times to give our swimmers some additional goals to shoot for. Gold is 5% slower than Star, Silver is 5% slower than Gold, and Bronze is 5% slower than Silver.

I am in the process of reserving blocks of rooms for our championships in Athens the weekend of March 5-6, 2005. I am waiting for confirmation from one more hotel, then I will put out all the information you need to reserve rooms at a great rate. I currently have about 100 rooms blocked at 4 different hotels in Athens and Logan.

You must know what day your child swims so that you can book the room for the previous night. Ages 11 & Over swim on Saturday and ages 10 & Under swim on Sunday. Again, be looking for all the info to be coming out in the next couple of days. Any questions, let me know.

We are forming a USA team within the YMCA team, so that select swimmers will be able to compete at USA meets as members of LTPY. Being a heightened level of competition, there will be time standards that must be met to particpate in the LTPY/USA team.

For more information, refer to the Downloads section where you will find an introductory memo from Coach Steve, the time standards, and a meet schedule (which has also been added to the web site calendar.)

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

We are stroking and kicking though our second week of practice of the 2004-2005 season and practices are going smooth considering we have 172 Penguin swimmers!! Practices have not been overcrowded since many swimmers are involved in other fall sports, but I expect that will change in a few weeks. If overcrowding becomes an issue, there may be some immediate practice schedule changes. Thanks to all of you for your cooperation so far.

Please read over this mini-newsletter as it includes some important information and some practice schedule changes. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Go Penguins!

If you ordered a team suit at the Parents Meeting, your suit is in! There will be a swim team parent in the bleachers during all practices beginning tonight, September 17th through Wednesday, September 22nd. Your suit will be distributed once your name is checked off the list. Please be patient if there is a short wait. We want to make sure everyone gets the correct suit.

If you ordered a team suit after the Parents Meeting, it is unlikely to be ready and Greenhouse will call you when it is ready.

It's once again time to celebrate another fabulous season for the SEO/WV League Champions, your Liberty Township Powell YMCA Penguins!

The festivities will be held at the Y on the lawn behind the outdoor pool Thursday, July 29, 6:00-8:00. We're planning a cookout and potluck as well as recognition of our wonderful swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and YMCA support staff. The outdoor pool will be available for swimming as well. (200 choice, followed by 100 kicks... only kidding...)

In addition to the "end of year" awards, ribbons from Champs and the last few meets, as well as PB's, will be distributed. (So that makes for thanksgiving, food, and loot. Sounds like a winner.) All are welcome, so please plan to join us along with your families. Keep an eye on this website for any additional updates as well as food assignments for our dinner. See you Thursday, July 29th!

Ann Hiltner

PS. A request: It would be helpful if we knew how many folks are attending from each family. In addition, could you let me know what size t-shirt your swimmers wear? You can e-mail me at jhiltner@columbus.rr.com. Thanks!

We rocked the blocks. Now let's party.
